Stichting ALS (Dutch ALS Foundation) was founded in 2005 as the result of the fusion of three organisations: Stichting ALS Onderzoek fonds, Stichting Valscherm and Stichting ALS Centrum Nederland.
Together they fight for people suffering from ALS and against ALS itself. The organisation’s most important goals are:
- Improving scientific research into the cause and possible prevention, cure and future treatment of ALS.
- Providing a platform of communication for ALS patients, their family and friends and their bereaved (peer contact).
- Improving the quality of patients’ lives.
- Allocating funds for scientific research as effectively and efficiently as possible.
